My name is Merril. In late 2014 I experienced some very trying life events. Rather than remain a victim I chose to walk to victory. I made a goal to become healthy. I also decided to hike 400 miles of the Appalachain trail with my sister. It took us approximately 2 months. We hiked north starting at the southern end of the Great Smokey Mountain National Park traveling to Bland, VA. This adventure altered my life. Since October 2014 I also began losing weight. It has been 18 months since I started the journey. I have lost 175 lbs since I started. Follow my journey to health, healing, and hiking and Walk to Victory with us.
Hello- My name is Morganne (Merril’s sister). The Appalachian Trail has been my dream for quite some time now. I am the crazy one who came up with this nutty adventure. At first I had planned to venture the AT alone, but when some unfortunate circumstances were dealt to my brother we decided to take-on this journey together. One of my favorite quotes comes from the book, Into the Wild: “Happiness -only real when shared”. Christopher Johnson McCandless learned that lesson the hard way. I am so excited to share the next few months with my brother. These will be memories that last a lifetime! We will walk victoriously towards health, healing, and happiness together on the AT.
